Overview

In 2010, The NOLA Tree wants to run four New Orleans rebuild and recovery programs.  In addition, we want to assist in numerous local community service initiatives.

The founders of The NOLA Tree are children's book authors.  Using our ties to the children's literature community, we have secured commitments from the biggest names in the young adult and middle grade literature industry to work alongside our teen volunteers.  Laurie Halse Anderson and Ellen Hopkins serve on our Advisory Panel.

Who benefits from this project?

  • The citizens of New Orleans as we help in the post-Katrina effort
  • Local community programs as our volunteers help be the change in their own backyards
  • Our young volunteers as they learn the importance of service while interacting with the authors whose books they read
  • Our authors serve as they serve as role models and connect with their readers on a whole new level

We have structured a win-win-win-win program
