  • Create locations for students to learn how to self-calm and refocus
  • Create safe play area for all children

Overview

Hope Prepatory Academy serves children in all ranges of learning disabilities and special needs.  Many children experience "meltdowns" in the classroom due to sensory overloads, emotional stress, and/or behavioral challenges.  Multiple locations will serve as a "calming place" to aid children in learning to self-regulate, prevent future classroom outbursts, allowing refocus to attend the classroom tasks.
Teachers may use the spaces as "reward" to reinforce positive behavior.
It is also important children have physical activity as an outlet for excessive energy and provide sensory input.  Our playground serves to enhance gross motor skills while shaping social skills.  Playground rubber mulch is needed to provide a safe play surface and meet the needs of children with sensory and physical challenges.
