Goals
- To raise $25,000 + to complete skatepark
Overview
The Greenfield Skate park became a vision of my husbands as a result of his meeting and getting to know the local skateboarders. McClain At Risk Student Program (MARS) targets students who are credit deficient, dropped out, etc. we have 11% of our students enrolled. Many in the community are concerned that the youth from a relatively normal family not become involved in situations that bring temptations with alcohol and drugs. As a result families have united to assist in "saving" the local ball park summer recreation. But few are willing to look beyond the normal to youth whose family may not be willing to go the extra mile for their extra curricular activities that are not generally acceptable such as skateboarding. Skateboarding appeals to a different type of athlete and requires skill & dedication. These qualities need to be encouraged so that they can be translated into the youths academic and career paths.
