Overview
History Lost to Progress: Fairfield the Town Under the Lake is a non-fiction book. It will be approximately 250 pages and contain historical & genealogical information, along with narrative text & photos focusing on Fairfield, Indiana, the town that was destroyed for the creation of the Brookville Dam & Reservoir. Since Fairfield was one of the orginal settlements in Franklin County many researchers ask for information about the town and its residents. To date there has been no book written about the town, its life, and its demise. We are going to fill that void, and create such a book. Photos of Fairfield never seen before, and personal recollections from former residents will be a major part of this book. Our book will educate more than just the local population. People come to the Brookville Lake from all over the country for recreational purposes, and ask "what was here?". Our book will tell them.
