Goals

  • To Expand The Freecycle Network, online, to localities across the US
  • To empower localities to further reduce the waste filling landfills

Overview

We currently enable 24,000 items/day to be gifted on thousands of Freecycle Yaho Groups. By creating a tailor-made website every Freecycle group will post locally & we will be able to reach each locality across the US. The beta version is already designed, tested & ready. We need financial help to cover servers & an engineer to put this project into action.Firstly we aim to keep as much stuff in circulation (and out of landfills) as possible via local gifting. Secondly, our goal is to empower each individual member to contribute to the greater local community via the gifting of these used items to others. This dual mission of conserving the environment & building local community we are able to bring options to individuals in their own towns, where one person helps another & we all benefit. Each gift is picked up personally by the recipient, thus also building a greater “off line” sense of community as people meet face to face.

How will the 250K be Used?

$ 150,000 Server upgrades, equipment purchases
$ 75,000 Engineer, Developer and tech costs
