Overview
The "United States of Autism" film features 20 families across 15,000 miles in the US all learning how to reach their loved one(s) with autism. Each family has a different approach and represents a different slice of the American pie. The Founders of The Tommy Foundation, parents of a child on the spectrum themselves, will be traveling the country to showcase what life is actually like for families affected by autism and to provide advocacy and communication trainings in cities across the US while they are there to film the documentary. Already over 120 parents, professionals and students across the country have been trained and filming has begun. By the end of the project, we expect that these communities will have a deeper understanding and appreciation of what life is like for 1 in 110 children who are now diagnosed with the condition. 1. Documentary will be distributed in 50 states.2. Trainings provides in 20 cities. 3. 1:1 support to families.
