Overview
The University of Southern California Upward Bound's goal is to prepare first-generation, low-income, high school students to attend a post-secondary institution. UB is specifically geared to assist students to establish strong academic foundations and knowledge of resources needed to apply to college. UB provides students with individualized, step-by-step support throughout high school and the college application process.
The summer residential program is the most influential component of UB services. During the program, students have the opportunity to live on USC campus and attend classes. Participants take courses in Science, Math, and Writing. Students also participate in cultural, educational, and recreational field trips that provide exposure. The program empowers students by giving the opportunity to experience college life and begin to see it as a viable option. This opportunity is provided free of cost to all participants.
