Overview
We need to purchase a new van to replace our oldest van, a well-worn 1986 Ford cargo van that is still running but requires a lot of maintenance. In the last year it cost us over $1,000 to repair this van. We use 3 vans to operate the various aspects of our programs. With trips running six days a week, on average we use our vans 1,050 hours/yr - about 3 hrs/day. Our vans are used to transport bikes to the trail-head for our rides, to transport equipment to the facilities where we conduct our mobile bike program, to pick up donations, and to transport our earn-a-bike youth to their rides and other field trips. It will cost approximately $23,600 to purchase a new van and another $1,400 to add the Trips for Kids logo and decals. (These decals are extremely important as they generate donations and inspire people to volunteer with us since the van is often on the road or parked at popular trail-heads.) Buying a new van will be a one-time expense that is necessary for our program.
