Overview
The After-School Excellence Program, or ASEP, operates in close partnership with the Boston Public Schools to deliver an intensive, high-quality, three-year youth development program designed for under-served middle school students.
Tenacity accomplishes its ASEP mission by including a comprehensive range of activities that promote academics, resiliency and physical fitness. Tenacity partners with six middle schools across the City of Boston to deliver our structured literacy and tennis curricula. At all sites, students spend equal time in the academic literacy block and playing tennis.
While ASEP serves 6th, 7th and 8th graders and is ultimately known as an after-school program, mandatory summer involvement and the Alumni Service component launch this program into a category of its own: a year-round 7-year journey where 95% of ASEP graduates go on to graduate from high school and 80% of these high school graduates go on to college or other continuing education.
