Overview
The Small Potatoes Gleaning Project needs a new cargo van to deliver the fresh food our volunteers harvest. With a large new van, we will be able to transport thousands of pounds of just-picked fruits and vegetables to our network of almost 30 recipient organizations.
Our current van is small and unreliable. With a big, new (gently used) van, we can make many drop-offs to meal programs, shelters, food banks, and other hunger relief organizations in one trip. These programs do not have much funding to buy fresh food. We provide them with some of the healthiest, tastiest local produce around - for free. People in need can then access the nutritious food they often struggle to afford.
A new van will help us distribute our harvest as widely as possible in Whatcom County, WA. We hope to pick and deliver at least 150,000 pounds of fresh food in 2010. Please help us make that possible!
