Overview
Joey stands nervously waiting for his brother to get off the bus at camp. It has been a year since he has seen him. Joey tells his counselor “if I had the choice of a vacation in Disneyland or just one minute more with my brother—I would take the minute”. With 500,000 children in foster care across the U.S. most enter the system with at least one sibling and a majority of these children separated for lengthy periods from siblings; our goal is to reunite 1000 siblings at Camp To Belong by 2011.
Staffed by volunteer counselors across the country, Camp To Belong never charges a foster child to attend camp. This year, in a down economy, we have embraced the challenge to double the number of siblings we reunite! Help us send 1000 separated siblings to camp, make 10,000 memories and 1,000,000 smiles.
Deliverables:
Double the number of siblings that are reunited –from 500 TO 1000 with a week long-camp experience with their siblings.
