Goals

  • To give the developmental disabled access to rewarding experiences.

Overview

The vision behind Search for Adventure (SFA) is simple but powerful—give people with developmental disabilities the opportunity to have life-changing experiences that expand their sense of their own capabilities and their understanding of the world. It’s not enough to simply provide a daily routine service. SFA offers trips based on what they want to do instead of on what others have thought they should or shouldn’t, could or couldn’t do.We aim to offer more accessible trips to the most severely and profoundly disabled individuals. With two fully-equipped Adventuremobiles—essentially, heavily modified vans—SFA can make sure that those who often have so little to look forward to, are able to learn and grow from an experience of a lifetime. Trips would be offered to more than 150 people annually. Owning the vehicles would allow trips to be more economical and accessible. All other facets of the program are set up and funded so the program would be able to be offered for years to come.
