Overview

The Job Skills Program offers experienced Rocking the Boat students the opportunity to build upon the foundation of knowledge, skill, and responsibility they developed during their time in the primary level after-school boatbuilding and on-water programs. Job Skills Apprentices are trained through integrating soft skills development into a highly technical work experience.  After spending up to two years in the program, Apprentices are well prepared for the next steps—academic, professional, and personal—in their lives. 

Anticipated results include:
-enrolling 16 apprentices in each of 3 semesters
-teaching advanced skills in boatbuilding and repair or environmental restoration
-keeping the fleet of 27 wooden boats afloat
-working on commissioned boat projects
-implementing up to 4 environmental restoration projects with scientific partners
-visiting colleges, trade schools
-helping 90% of high school seniors transition into college, a job
