Overview
With over a quarter of a million graphic designers creating well over 65 billion lbs. of printed material every year, the design industry has a massive (though often unrecognized) impact on environmental and human health. Re-nourish takes a two-fold approach to mitigating these impacts. At the grassroots level, we'll build a website that delivers:
* Project calculators to reduce waste and increase use of recycled materials.
* Mobile apps to increase audience reach and encourage adoption of design best practices.
* Searchable databases to connect designers with greener printers and paper options.
* Self-guided e-learning about independently-researched sustainable design theory/practice.
* Project sharing/case studies to fuel innovation.
* Data tracking/feedback loops to enable measurement of real-workld impacts.
We'll also launch a series of industry-wide initiatives, including a multi-stakeholder working group to develop universal sustainable design metrics.
