  • To help lead the way of changing the status quo of nursing homes.

Overview

Nursing Homes are BROKEN. The people who live and work in nursing homes aren't. The Penick Village family is fixing our nursing home for our residents.  And, we want to help show the way for others.

Our project will design a nursing home replacement that will provide the much needed change for the traditional institutional nursing home and obtain required state approvals. Our designs will show our deinstitutional vision. Bigger is not better. Our designs will create true homes for 10 residents. No more long hallways! Private rooms with private bathrooms and shower; no matter one's payer source (~68% of all people living in our country's nursing homes are on financial assistance.) No more shared rooms with privacy curtains! No more central shower rooms! Hot, fresh meals cooked to order. No more carts and trays! This design will enhance the person-center model of care and will prove that there is and can be a better way to care for our frailest elders.

How will the 250K be Used?
