Overview
Approximately 10% of homeless people have pets, but very few shelters allow animals. A pet is often a homeless person’s only companion and many refuse shelter because they won’t give up their loyal friend.
Petco Place is located at the PATH Hollywood Center, which provides 65 beds of emergency housing and support services. Here, homeless people can enter shelter and receive the support and services they need and remain united with their beloved pet. Unfortunately, PATH often has to turn away homeless pet owners because space is so limited.
No one should have to choose between their pet and a roof over their head. Petco Place needs more emergency kennels so pet owners can find immediate, safe, and comfortable shelter for themselves and their loyal companions. The $5,000 we are requesting will allow us to add 10 new kennels.
