  • To create an online, researchable data base for public use

Overview

The Listen For the Jazz: Ohio Swings! archive will publish the Ohio Jazz Archive research online, and create a researchable data base for use by Jazz fans, researchers, students and authors.
Archived photos will be scanned and digitized for use.
Archived recordings will be digitized and "cleaned up"
Biographical data will be entered. Additional interviews and research will continue.
A stand-alone web site will be built that will house and preserve the archive.
Two computer generated "slide" shows will be created for use in libraries and schools (more may be copied for use in the future).
The Listen For The Jazz: Ohio Swings!/ JazzOhio! exhibition panels will continue to tour in Ohio at libraries and schools.
Data from the The Ohio Jazz Family Tree will be entered and an application form will be designed for artists to fill out to be a part of the Tree.

How will the 25K be Used?

Budget Notes: The above requested funds will not cover royalty cost for recordings, promotional materials, and transportation for the Ohio Jazz! exhibition to travel.
$ 8,000 DIgitize the archive photos & important recordings
$ 5,000 enter biographical & Ohio Jazz Family Tree data
$ 7,000 create and maintain a stand alone web site for the Archive
$ 5,000 Create a digitzed "slide show" with audio for schools & libraries
