Overview
As a community art center, the Octagon promotes aspiring artists & provides collaborative art opportunities. We own a 1,200 sq ft space adjacent to our building, that was rented for 20 years. Tenant moved & street level space is now vacant for 10 months. By remodeling space for a community gallery, 30+ artists will be featured in solo/group monthly shows the 1st year, with 4,000 visitors. This offers more display options for art/design students, faculty & other artists. Since past tenant occupied space for 20 years, refurbishing of floors, windows & walls is necessary. All plumbing & electrical systems must be updated & 2nd restroom added for city codes. We have the space, the artists, the staff and plenty of heart; we just need funding to make this idea a realistic ongoing assest for our town.
