Overview

The "Ocean Current" project aims to solve a huge issue that impacts the whole world, finding a clean renewable source of energy. large wind farms have started sprouting up across the United States the only problem is they are eye sores and most "wind generators" are only 25-30% efficient and the predictability of the source is only moderate. Wave energy is the most concentrated form of renewable energy and wave power is dependable and predictable. My design uses influences from marine life to capture the oceans waves and currents and turn them into usable energy, while making a low impact on the environment and keeping the ocean an enjoyable sight. The grant will further my research to develop the design, create prototypes, and do real world testing. The ocean has 2TW of energy, the equivalent of twice the world’s electricity production, (World Energy Council). This is what could be harvested from the world’s oceans.
