  • create a portable media lab for community access

Overview

A team of part-time and volunteer visionary artists and Internet utopians will develop an interactive, real-world urban game to spur imaginative solutions and active engagement in people while pursuing their own personal dreams and goals as well as the objectives of their community. We are targeting urban youth in New Orleans' schools registered in English and/or media arts programs grades 7-12 with an after-school curriculum which teaches interactive game development to be available in selected participant schools and library branches within New Orleans. However, the multi-leveled multicultural narrative online game itself is open to all ages of the general public thus encouraging diverse national and global engagement. Using an iterative development approach, we will pilot test a game of 30 days in duration beginning April 1st among selected classrooms. Collaboratively with the students and play-tester participants, feedback from the pilot improves the final game.
