Overview

NOLACPP is currently refining the 2009 Draft Model on Citizen Participation, which creates a formalized participation framework for neighborhoods and communities to impact government decisions that affect their lives.  While the model was developed via extensive community conversations, NOLACPP wants to have one last intensive public input period.  NOLACPP will dedicate two months to hosting and attending community meetings, to ensure that the wants and needs of New Orleanians are represented in the model.  Additionally, the need to develop a systematic approach to teach participants skills to improve their ability to access the system is critical in New Orleans.  NOLACPP will develop a Manual for Citizen Participation, develop specific trainings, and train citizens across New Orleans to use this powerful tool.  There will be a particular focus on training citizens to then train other citizens, further ensuring the project's sustainability.
