Goals
- To spotlight Nevada’s volunteers to inspire more Nevadans to serve
Pictures
Overview
Nevada ranks 50thin the country in its volunteer rate. The On the Volunteer Road Blog will capture stories of Nevada's volunteers and inspire more Nevadans to serve. With only 18.8% of Nevada's residents volunteering, there is a great need for a statewide dialogue about the value of volunteering. To start the dialogue I will: 1) Create a blog as I travel to 12 to 20 Nevada communities speaking volunteer-to- volunteer with people who serve through traditional nonprofits, faith-based groups, business volunteer programs, and youth-oriented initiatives. 2) Capture stories on video/audio recording and photographic equipment to use for the blog, a Public Service Announcement (PSA), a pamphlet, a short video, and perhaps a calendar. Use these for public presentations to inspire people to serve. 3) Connect with Nevada media outlets to promote the blog and start the public conversation. 4) Leave Nevada Volunteers with the tools/equipment to continue its public awareness campaign.
