Overview
The NAHOF Museum is designed to educate the general public about the abolitionists of the 19th century, to provide a location for the scholarly study of the abolition movement, and to remind people that there is still work to do!
The museum modules will allow for shifting themes and the integration of technology. For example, the Abolitionist Means: Proclaiming Liberty module may feature excerpts of Frederick Douglass' newspaper The North Star and an opportunity to view a re-enactment of his "4th of July" speech in February, and then be modified in March to introduce visitors to Lydia Maria Child's National Anti-Slavery Standard and poetry.
The last module of the museum encourages visitors to apply the lessons of the abolitionists to their own lives.
The funds will also be used to install an elevator, to develop an archival system for professional studies, and to develop a national "I Am Me!" equality campaign.
