Overview
We will be working with one Boy Scout and one Girl Scout Troop at a middle school in Washington DC. If we choose to work in a neighborhood where no troops exist, we would help form troops. We will provide mentors for middle-school students who are just beginning to face the pressures of adolesence in the inner city. Everything from paying for uniforms to camping trips far from the city is out of their reach. We will make sure the experiences that shape their character and are fundamental to scouting are available to them.
Scouting has affected many of our lives, making us stronger and more service-oriented people. Throughout the year, we will meet with the troops several times each month. We will invite them to join our service projects, as well as start new ones with them. We will help them get on the path towards receiving their Eagle and Gold Awards. We hope to use the scouting experience to encourage young students to be mentally awake, physicially strong, and morally straight.
