Overview

The Lake Murray Playground Project is a 100% volunteer organization working to design, fund and rebuild a deteriorating playground in San Diego.

In recent years, most of the play equipment that once resided in the park have been removed, due to safety concerns. The three pieces that remain: a swing set, a tot-sized structure, and a twisty slide - have rust, peeling paint, and graffiti. The equipment doesn’t meet standards for modern playground safety and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the city will make only limited repairs before removing these pieces, too.

The Lake Murray Playground Project was launched in 2009 dedicated group of neighbors whos endeavor is to raise the hundreds of thousands of dollars necessary to replace equipment and surfacing while bringing the city playground up to ADA standards.

It’s a large task with a simple goal: to create a wonderful space for children to play and for the community to gather and enjoy.
