Overview
Aromatherapy is a safe and effective way to manage nausea--one of the most daunting side effects for newly-diagnosed children with cancer. Each year, about 10,000 children will be diagnosed with cancer in the United States. Although aromatherapy can help alleviate suffering for these children, it is not covered by health insurances. Killian Mansfield Foundation volunteers will assemble kits of therapeutic grade essential oil and send with instructions, other helpful hints for dealing with nausea to every pediatric oncology program in America.
Deliverables:
- Create aromatherapy kit (w/therapeutic grade essential oil, spritzer, instructions on use & words of encouragement from other children who've had cancer + Killian's acclaimed benefit album SOMEWHERE ELSE)
- recruit 100 volunteers to assemble kits
- Distrubute kits to 10,000 children diagnosed w/cancer in the US - Providing integrative therapies not covered by insurance
- Secure 6 national national press/health trade outlet mentions
