Overview
Science education needs a renovation. American students rank 21st in science compared with students around the world. This puts the USA at risk. SEMI is the spark of change needed today in science education.
The SEMI is a fully equipped mobile laboratory which arrives in a school parking lot, pops open, and allows students direct access to sophisticated equipment, curriculum, and real-life career scientists.
The Pepsi Refresh grant would allow students to receive a quality science education and gain an educational advantage.
- SEMI extends the science classroom to all schools regardless of funding or location
- SEMI is a catalyst for students thinking about a science career
- SEMI was very successful during the few years it was on the road
- SEMI was publicly and privately funded, but the funding faded away
- SEMI has sat idle for two years
