Goals

- To support a garden CSA giving locals fresh, organic food.
- To beaitufy a space with veggies and flowers instead of buildings.
- To allow neighbors to actually get to know each other.
- To get the kiddos outside and interested in where our food comes from.
Overview
The Hampton Roads community garden project will strive to use vacant spaces around the area to build community, create sustainable lifestyles, and educate residents. Public gardens will inspire and empower local residents to be a part of something bigger understanding that they CAN make a change.
The garden has high hopes to not only create an area where residents can be a part of their own community, but also to create community supported agriculture programs for the garden members and beyond. A successful CSA will support the members and will donate food to families in need and to the local Food Bank.
All gardens will be crafted out of reclaimed and recycled materials, will follow natural and organic garden practices, and will use rain water harvesting systems for garden needs.
Deliverables:
- Ten community garden projects throughout the region
- CSA program fully operational after season 1
- An operational program in place for gardens to self-support
