Overview

The Hiram Farm Living and Learning Community is off to a great start. We are one of only a handful of programs in the country that provide an agricultural work setting for adults with autism. Our program opened in June, 2009 with 6 participants with autism and has more than doubled in size since then. But we have no building that can provide a base of operations for our program activities or our administrative office.

Our beautiful 120-acre farm has pastures, a large garden and two greenhouses. But our program and office space is now housed a half-mile from the farm. We don't even have basic facilities such as restrooms and drinking water on the farm. We must have a building on site in order to provide a quality program for adults with autism and make the farm as productive as it can be.

We plan to build a 2000sq ft energy efficient straw bale building. Much of the work will be done by volunteers. We have received many donations but we need this grant to complete the project.
