Overview
Young people who are in foster care come to The Cottage Schools because they have suffered significant trauma. These multicultural boys and girls-more than 300 at any time-come from extreme poverty and have been exposed to physical, sexual and emotional abuse and neglect. The Cottage Schools are part of JCCA and provide a daily living environment that is conducive to healing. Providing our youth with emotional outlets through physical activity to boost their self-esteem and rebuild their emotional stability is an effective way to help them recover from the traumas that have hindered their development. There is a dire need for your help in supporting organized group sports and individual activities including: basketball inter-school team equipment and supervision; exercise machines; and recreational equipment. Your vote will help provide our youth with some of the normal things that others have access to.
