Overview
Homelessness is devastating for women and children. It disrupts all aspects of family life, damages physical and emotional health, and interferes with a child's education and development and the mother's self esteem and ability to find employment. This project will allow us to serve more children in our therapeutic childcare for children under 5 and afterschool programs for school age kids that build confidence, teach social skills and allow room for a fuller, more creative vision of their future.Homeless teenagers are particularly vulnerable to social pressures and this project will extend WIN's existing programs that address dangers posed by early sexuality and drug and alcohol abuse and emphasize the importance of staying in school and career planning. Our children's programs give parents time to learn skills that will help them find work and housing. The Pepsi project will address funding shortfalls for on-site computer classes, Adult Basic Education, and GED preparation.
