Goals
- Our goal is to purchase a building to house our agency.
Overview
GROWS Literacy Council has been in operation since 1988, providing One-on-One tutoring in adult literacy, a four-year ESL (English as a Second Language) and Civics program using a research-based curriculum, Workplace Literacy, and a Family Literacy program that teaches ESL, parenting, and life-skills to parents while simultaneously teaching their children kindergarten readiness skills so that they can enter kindergarten prepared to succeed alongside their native-English-speaking classmates.
Since its inception, GROWS has operated using rented space and satellite centers. The ever-increasing need for ESL and Literacy services in our area have made it necessary to establish a permanent center in order to better accommodate the population we serve. It would allow us to offer more flexible scheduling, more specialized classes, and to house the resources and materials necessary to address broadly varied needs of our students.
