- To create a non-profit entity to raise funds to continue the program.
Overview
Gadsden Elementary was recognized as a Magnet School of Excellence for our Fine Arts program. All children from K-5, participate in Drama, Dance, Strings, Art, and Music. The goal of a Fine Arts education is not only to produce performers. Exposure to the Arts marks a person for life as an Educated Person. Our students, some of the most disadvantaged in Chatham County, need this. Now, our district is taking our program and giving it to another school which will have entry requirements that may exclude many of our students.
This project will provide
*Salaries to keep our drama, dance, and strings teachers for the next year.
*Local field trips for each grade level to attend symphony, theater, and dance performances.
*Funds to purchase costumes, sets, rights to produce plays, and technology.
*the resources to create a non-profit fundraising entity to ensure the program continues for years to come.
How will the 250K be Used? |
|
| Budget Notes: We own instruments for our strings program from a prior grant. Our children couldn't afford to buy them. Instruments without a teacher are useless, however. The non-profit will maintain the program through aggressive fundraising over the next year. A plus: We have an award winning track record! | |
