Overview

Grant funding is necessary to provide scholarship assistance to low income families who often cannot afford to enroll their children in after school enrichment programs. These children often become latch key kids with no supervision or end up roaming the streets with their friends and find themself in a position where poor choices are made. After school care offered at the elementary school sites strive to provide and address the 5 elements of youth development: a sense of safety and structure, high self-worth, feeling of mastery and future, sense of belonging, perception of responsibility and a sense of self-awareness. Trained adult leaders provide healthy afternoon snacks, homework assistance, physical fitness activities and themed learning projects. Additional enrichment classes such as dance, cooking, martial arts, music lessons, theatre, arts classes, and sports are offered by skilled, expert instructors to provide a positive outlet while teaching lifelong skills.
