Overview

Taking its inspiration from real-life, DEAR ANNA OLSON is a story of how small, positive actions can have profound impact on people's well-being.

In this film Anna Olson is living in a nursing home. Lonely, she sends out notes tied to balloons. One of these notes travels from person to person, each of whom are moved to share their stories. When the note returns to Anna her world is positively changed.

So how does DEAN ANNA OLSON's message translate into action? By making the completed film available to groups (schools, libraries, faith-based organizations and community centers) that will most benefit from its message. After bringing the film to their attention through direct mailings and the Internet, screenings and events could then be organized where DEAR ANNA OLSON would be used as a point of departure for discussions about the power and importance of compassion and communication.

Deliverables:

  • 12-15 minutes of completed hand-drawn animation photographed on 35mm color film.

How will the 25K be Used?

Budget Notes: This traditional hand-drawn animated film is being created using colored pencils, watercolors and inks on paper and frosted acetate. The soundtrack will consist of an original musical score and sound effects. There will be no dialogue or narration, allowing the story to cross language barriers.
