Goals
- To help 350 Deaf youth graduate from high school.
- To provide gang prevention/intervention to 350 at-risk Deaf youth
Overview
The high school drop out problem is a significant issue for teens who are deaf. Only three out of ten youth who are deaf have a chance of graduating from high school in our community. These statistics paint a dismal picture for youth with hearing loss in our community.
High school aged youth who are deaf will be taught drop-out prevention strategies, gang prevention/intervention, and receive the educational enrichment activities needed for them to complete high school. We believe the fastest way to stop a child’s frustration with school is to engage them in high yield learning activities that inspire and empower. Our drop-out prevention program is effective because every program is individualized to the teenager’s unique needs.
Program Components:
- Homework Help and Tutoring
- Parent and Teacher Involvement
