Goals

  • To conduct photography workshops for 50 foster children in Detroit
  • To train the children alongside local, professional photographers
  • To provide each child with an album of their work
  • To exhibit a collection of the children's work at a local gallery

Overview

The "Making Children Our Focus" project provides foster children in the metro Detroit area a chance to be inspired creatively through photography workshops. These workshops will teach the children a skill that can be used to not only provide income-earning potential through the sale of their prints, but also a chance to create awareness for their situation.

Each child will participate in a week-long workshop that will end with them receiving an album of their work and a chance to have their work exhibited at a local gallery.

How will the 5K be Used?

Budget Notes: We have already received a donation of several cameras from Kodak and will use the grant money to purchase additional supplies needed, as well as prepare prints for exhibition. All equipment used by the children will be reused for future workshops.
