Overview
CCHS will use the grant money to construct a separate building to house the hundreds of animals that we get from rescues, abuse, neglect and puppy mill situations. We have extensive experience with caring for them, meeting their medical and social needs as well. We are located in the heart of Wisconsin's largest concentration of puppy mills. CCHS has been involved in rescues of up to 300 animals at one site. We know there will be many more to come so we need to be prepared. Our staff and volunteer group is knowledgeable and trained to deal with the special needs of puppy mill survivors. They are the saddest cases we see. We can meet their health needs, their exercise, socialization, behavior modification requirements and we can certainly provide all of the love they have never had. We feel a sense of duty to restore their trust in us. What we need is the space and the place to do that. This grant will allow us to "refresh" the broken spirits of the mill dogs.
How will the 250K be Used? |

| Budget Notes: The budget will not cover any of the thousands of hours of labor, care, effort and love that the many volunteers donate to help these animals. Their reward is the heartwarming outcome that each pet will have as it is transformed from a sickly, unsocialized animal into someone's healthy, loving pet. | |
