Goals

  • Invest in students' dreams of going to/paying for college.
  • Reward students for their work done in service of the community.
  • Improve our database and its reach by making it bilingual.

Overview

We would like to offer hands on student internships where students can directly contribute to the development of the only national bilingual multiservice resource database.

The database already consists of 17,500 service providers that provide affordable and culturally competent services related to a variety of issues (health, education, legal assistance, youth, etc).  Our Acceso Hispano hotline staff has used the database to connect 100,000 individuals with the services they need.  Since the online database was launched in July of last year we have been able to inform, connect and empower 74% more users about programs designed to better their quality of life.  Our goal is to translate the database into Spanish to increase access to an even wider audience.

Interns will receive tuition assistance, a transportation stipend, and training in new media technologies in exchange for 30 hours for six weeks in Summer 2010.
