Overview

Challenge Day teaches students to connect with their peers and with the adults in their lives, and to treat others with acceptance, love and respect.  The message of Challenge Day is that we must accept ourselves just as we are, and that self-acceptance breeds greater kindness and empathy toward others.  Challenge Day encourages creating a community in which students feel “safe, loved and celebrated.”

During Challenge Day, students are asked to commit to acts of change, things as simple as eating lunch with someone they don’t know and giving their parents hugs, or as difficult as mending a relationship in their lives and confronting peers who make hurtful comments.

The work of Challenge Day is supported by the local Be-the-Change team, a student group that continues the spirit of Challenge Day and works to further effect change in their school and community.
