Overview

The Contemporary Artists Center (CAC) is in the process of transforming
a vacant historic building complex into an innovative cultural center
for the Upstate NY region. In 2005, the Troy community saved this
historic complex from demolition and the CAC was chosen as the most
suitable owner. These beautiful buildings are over 140 years old and
will be the centerpiece of a vibrant neighborhood revitalization.

The $50,000 grant will support the last phase of renovation costs and provide the community with a superb venue for arts and performance events, supporting everything from neighborhood BBQ picnics and summer films to concerts and exhibitions by internationally renowned artists. Painters, sculptors, video-artists, writers, musicians, dancers and artists of all types will come together here to create, inspire and get inspired.

The CAC believes in the power of the arts to revitalize communities. The
requested funds are critical in this final stage to make the project a reality.
