Overview
The Boys & Girls Club of the Monroe Area will coordinate a community effort to revitalize a structure in Madisonville, TN into the Monroe County Community Center. In a community where nothing of this nature exists, the project will provide a facility and programs for all Monroe County residents with an emphasis on teenagers, young families and senior citizens. Lack of education, low job skills, poverty, teenage pregnancy and drug use are issues that plague our residents. This project will dramatically affect the quality of life for Monroe County residents. The Pepsi Refresh Grant would provide funding for phase 1 of the 3 phase project. Phase 1: secure facility, form project committee, obtain additional funding, renovate and open a Teen Center. Phase 2: addition of a recreational area that could include a bowling alley, games room and snack area. Phase 3: incorporate a library within the center.
