Overview
Better World Books has tons of children's books that need a good home. National Center for Family Literacy has a nationwide network of literacy partners. We have a vision to buy a BioDiesel Bookmobile and drive it coast to coast to distribute 1 million children's books. Beyond the book donation, we will distribute family literacy activity kits to help families read and learn together.
We plan to hold 2 kinds of events:
Book Drops – students will be able to pick out any five books of their choice for free. We will also help enroll them in reading programs and family literacy programs. The goal here is simply to get as many books in the hands of kids as possible.
Budget Book Sales – Working with the school, we will hold a book sale. The school will receive $1, and $1 from each book sold will be reinvested in keeping the program sustainable. This revenue stream can keep the program sustainable even beyond the Refresh funding.

| Budget Notes: Better World Books will contribute the books pro bono. Through the revenue share with schools, we believe the program can become self-sustaining after the first year. The program will also draw on the existing resources of Better World Books, which has over 250 employees. | |
