Overview
“Translating Balboa Park” is a project that builds on the Balboa Park Online Collaborative (BPOC) efforts to increase online access to 20 museums and cultural institutions in Balboa Park San Diego. Balboa Park has more than 10 million visitors every year and 45% of these visitors have Spanish as a first language. However the websites and information about the organizations in the Park is primarily in English. BPOC is investing in converting the websites of these organizations to a system that supports multiple languages. This grant would fund the initial translation of 15 sites. Additionally it would add a Spanish language blogger to the BPOC editorial team to expand our news coverage of the park online. Some of the sites translated would be the Museum of Man, San Diego Art Museum, San Diego Historical Society, The Fleet Science Center, Museum of Photographic Art, the Mingei International Museum and The Air and Space Museum, to name a few.
