Overview
The Hugs Project was founded in 2004 by Ray & Karen Stark of Edmond, Oklahoma, and was incorporated in March, 2005. The organization is now active in all 50 states. Our “Care Packages” include many items in addition to “Hugs” (cooling ties) and “Kisses” (helmet liners) such as handmade neck pillows, soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, foot powder, women’s personal items, socks, beef jerky, packaged tuna, dried fruit, candy, hot chocolate. During the cold months, we send warm handknitted and crocheted items such as hats, balaclavas, fingerless gloves, neck warmers, and sleep boots in addition to the basics. Our Christmas boxes are the most spectacular as they contain special items including individually Christmas wrapped computer flash drives, small solar powered LED flashlights, disposable cameras, mini binoculars, homemade cookies and candies, handcrafted Sequence and Mancala board games.
