Overview
Reach Out and Read serves 3.8 million children and their families at 4,500 hospitals, health centers, and clinics across the U.S. This project will give 25,000 additional children the chance they deserve to excel in school and in life.
35% of American children arrive at kindergarten without the basic language skills they will need to learn to read. Through Reach Out and Read, doctors give parents advice on reading with their young children and distribute a new, developmentally-appropriate book to each child to keep.
