Send 100,000 Care Packages to troops deployed in Afghanistan this yearOperation Gratitude

Through Collection Drives and Letter Writing Campaigns, Operation Gratitude provides all Americans a way to support the U.S. Military. Every year, Operation Gratitude holds a Patriotic Drive in the spring and a Holiday Drive in the winter during which thousands of volunteers form a human assembly line to produce 100,000 packages to ship to our service men and women in harm's way. All contents of the packages are donated by individuals and groups through collection drives across the country, or by companies that donate their own products. All donated funds are used to pay the postage fees ($10.35 per package) and production costs (insurance, forklift rental, trash removal, bookkeeping, website and email), for a total cost of $11 per package. We receive thousands of names of troops (primarily from leaders in the field who see the positive impact of our packages on morale) and we send a care package to every deployed Soldier, Sailor, Airmen and Marine whose name we receive.
