Overview
The No Child Left Inside-Tearing Down the Strongholds project would provide a field trip to the challenge course at Living Waters Ranch at no charge to the students. Many schools have had to cut their budgets with the recent downturn of the economy and educational field trips are the first cuts made. Overall, 23.15% of the 13,000 students under the age of 18, that attend 31 rural schools, in an 8 county area, live in poverty. This means that approximately 2,990 students are living in poverty situations. Rural area children are just as much at risk as inner city children, but don't have the programs available as cities do. The challenge course takes 3 hours to complete, the rest of the field trip time will be spent hiking, fishing, hawk throwing, and archery.Too many students today make poor choices with their free time because of a lack of experience with other healthy lifestyle activities. They will learn to enjoy the outdoors and build self confidence.
