Overview
The Marathon Project is a 33-week distance running program that pairs adult mentors with at-risk youth in the Hudson Valley, New York region that aims to reduce risk factors such as childhood obesity, school drop out, and substance abuse. The Marathon Project provides opportunities for students to set and achieve goals, explore avenues for character development, improve health, and build positive student/adult relationships through mentoring. Leveraging our relationships with local businesses and the local runners association (MHRRC.org), all local races and team-building events are free to the mentors and kids.
