Overview
The Guthrie PRIDE Program is in its third year in the Guthrie Public Schools but our funding has ended due to severe state wide budget cuts. The Guthrie PRIDE Program provides individual/group counseling to students and classroom guidance that help students with character education, understanding feelings, emotional and behavior control, making friends and substance abuse prevention. Since the Guthrie PRIDE Program started in 2007, counseling services have increased from 192 students to 721 (2007-2008) and 712 (2008-2009). School Social Worker referrals have increased from 194 to 1022 (2007-2008) and 1276 (2008-2009). School Social Workers provide assistance with social service needs (school supplies, clothing, food, housing) for children and their families. There has been a 36% decrease in discipline referrals since the start of the Guthrie PRIDE Program!!!
